Bennett Matthew Reynolds!

He is here! Bennett was born yesterday (May 17th) at 11:55am. He was 8 lbs 3 oz and 20 inches long. We are really excited and thrilled that he is so healthy.

My Labor:
I was really nervous about being induced (not sure why, I just didn't know what to expect). They started my Pitocin around 8 - 8:30ish. I got my epidural around 10:45 and was fully dilated and ready to go by 11:40. After the doctor got there, I gave it 3 pushes and he was out! So my full labor lasted about 3 1/2 hours. Second babies are terrific! Recovery has even been better than with Kaiya, I feel like this has been all too easy :) Just can't wait to take him home!

We made some white cake for strawberry shortcake this last week, and we got some out last night, and while Matt and I were in the living room eating some, Kaiya took the opportunity to help herself :)

I know that it has been SUCH a long time since I have posted.... I am sorry! I have been so busy with work that I can hardly breath, but it is such a blessing, so I won't complain.

Christmas
So first, Christmas.... This year was the first Christmas we decided to just stay home. It was really nice. It didn't take much to please Kaiya, she got a few necklaces (because she always wants to wear mine), some animals, cars, play food.

We spent Christmas eve with my parents, and we headed for Cedar City to see Matt's parents the day after Christmas. It was such a good nice long break Matt didn't have to go back to work until Jan 4th, so it made for a good 2 week break.

Next, Baby #2
For those of you who don't know (there maybe a lot of you, we have been horrible about telling people), we are expecting baby #2 in May. We found out Thursday that its a Boy!!! I am so excited! Also, everything looks good so far, the ultrasound seemed normal and he seems healthy. He kicks and wiggles ALOT less then Kaiya, so I am optimistic that I he will be less wiggly, and actually cuddle with me after he is born...

A Funny Story
So I just had to tell this story, because I was floored when it happened (it wasn't funny at the time). Anyway, on Monday, Kaiya was being horrible. When she has really bad days she just won't let me sit down to the computer and work at all, so I pulled out my laptop and I sat on her toddler bed with her in her room while she watched a movie. Well I had to get up to go to the bathroom and do one thing, so I closed the laptop and set it on my rocker in her room. When I came back, not more than 5 minutes later. I came back and the door was closed (she doesn't close the door unless she is doing something that she knows I wouldn't want her to do) I opened the door and she had put her step stool up to the dresser and ejected the DVD we were watching, opened up my laptop, put the DVD in my laptop and was watching her movie..... I of course wigged out on her, because she knows all too well that she is not EVER supposed to touch the laptop. The second she saw me, she tried to bolt. I was floored, I had no idea she knew how to do any of that.... ahhh!

Well, I will try to be better about updating the blog! I hope everyone is doing well!

We went to the zoo a few weeks ago, and I just hadn't had time to post these pictures yet. Matt took all of these pictures (except the one of him :) ), and I think he did a beautiful job.

We had so much fun, and Kaiya sure loved it! She loved all of the "doggies" (she calls EVERY animal a doggy). Funny Story about that: A week or 2 ago, we were at a park and she was sitting on the ground and she pointed to a little ant whispering "doggy...doggy...doggy...doggy", then she smashed it with her finger. It was so funny!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while... Things have been crazy busy around here! Matt and I have been super busy with work, while Kaiya has been very busy herself. She is walking now, she started walking about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ago. It has been fun, but she seems to have a new found independence with it. She doesn't like to be held, or ride in anything, and she never seems to want to walk in the direction we are going, she gets destracted by every little thing. If we are at the grocery store or anywhere.... all she wants to do is walk and explore, riding in the cart or stroller is not working so well.

Tea Party!!

So Matt and I are pretty passionate about conservatism and smaller government, so we thought that we would participate in the tea party here in Provo. We really didn't know what to expect because neither of us had ever been any part of any protest or anything like it before. It turned out to be a lot of fun! They had a few military members and others speak and a few people sang some patriotic songs. It felt very American and it was so fun to see so many people excited about it.

Woke up on the wrong side of the crib! The other day, Kaiya woke up from her nap with this imprint from her crib (well Pack n' Play). The side of it is mesh, It make me laugh.

Date Night, last weekend Matt and I debated about whether or not to go out for dinner for a "date night", with money being tight we decide that we would cook up something fun together.... It was so yummy! Teething!!! Last month, Kaiya got 3 top teeth on the same day! (She didn't seem too bugged by those) But now she cut one tooth today on the bottom, and one on the top is almost through, these she is not taking so well, so this week has been hard....

Our Trip to Laramie, Wyoming

My sister-in-law Valerie and her family live in Laramie and she just had a beautiful baby girl! So we went on a quick trip up there to visit and for Kallie's baby blessing. It was a lot of fun, Kaiya really enjoyed her cousins. Ethan was especially cute with her, he was teaching her how to draw and was showing her around. Matt's parents sent us some pictures that they took and I thought I would share.

By the way, Kaiya is almost walking..... I don't know if I am excited or not (she is not even a year old yet). She walks in between the furniture in the living room and she takes about 4-6 steps at a time.

Funny Sleeper!

For the 2-3 months, Kaiya's bedtime routine had been getting worse and worse. She used to be so easy to put to sleep, it seems that now that she has become more aware of her ability to control us, she was really picky about how we put her to sleep. She would not go to bed unless I or Matt would rock her to sleep, with her binki and if she were wake up as we put her down, the process would start over. Anyway, I was determined to not let her do this to me anymore, so we began consitantly putting her in her crib and letting her cry (even though I felt so bad hearing her scream), we did that every night, and at nap times, but after about a week or two she has been doing so well, she usually just goes right to sleep now. She even seems to sleep longer, I don't know if it is because she is okay with putting herself back to sleep now if she wakes up, but she sleeps anywhere between 9-13 hours now! I love it! Persistance payed off.

This is how she puts her self to sleep, and even if we turn her over while she is asleep, she tends to be this way in the morning.

A Hairdo!

A Tooth!

Kaiya finally got her first tooth today, well I guess yesterday (I am at my Grave job, so my days get a little off). I thought she would never get one, but she got a lower front tooth.

It has been a really long time since I have posted, so I guess I will just recap what we have been up to. We had a really long holiday, which was so so nice. We went to Cedar from Christmas Eve all the way until Jan 4th. It was such a nice break, we really needed it. Matt really needed too, because he had just been working so hard before Christmas, he had nearly 20 hours of overtime in only the week before Christmas. After our big long break it was back to job hunting. I found a job, the one that I am at now. I work Graves on the weekend at a Residential Treatment Center for teen boys. It is a really nice place and great environment (and I can still be home with Kaiya all week), but let me tell you it is 6:45 in the morning right now and I still have 2 hours and 15 minutes to go and I am doing anything I can to stay awake, haha. The shift starts at 9:45pm and goes till 9am, which is nice, because I get full time work only working 3 days a week, but staying awake is a little bit harder than I anticipated. Other than staying awake it is the easiest job I have ever had, just check on the boys every 30 mins and watch movies, surf the internet, or do whatever the rest of the time. Anyway, so that is pretty much all I have been up to lately.

Kaiya is just growing up too fast still, she is starting to stand and let go of what she is holding on to and balancing herself. It makes me nervous that she will be walking soon and I am not ready for that. I just got used to her crawling around.

Matt's just still working hard at his job... he has been such a good help with me going back to work.

I have had a crazy couple of weeks, so I have neglected my blog....

Kaiya is crawling, she has been crawling for about 2 weeks now. (she started the day before she turned 7 months) I admit, I was not ready for it, she is into everything. She also pulls her self up to standing on things, that is probably the hardest, because she isn't afraid to let go of whatever she is holding on to and she falls hard, and a lot. She just doesn't get that she will fall.

This is the cute winter suit that Mom Reynolds got Kaiya, it is so cute she looks like a little eskimo.

We decided that we need family pictures, cause we haven't done that.... and this is our creative way of doing them. I don't know if we can bring ourselves to pay for a photographer. Besides Matt and I just aren't that fond of traditional family pictures (posing) anyway. We took these out by Utah lake, we didn't realize how pretty it is there until recently. It is so peaceful too, cause you don't run into a lot of people out there.

(She is not as high as she looks.... haha)

I just can't help it, I love taking bath pictures! She is just so cute all naked and it just makes me laugh about her and her little wash cloth, she would sit there all day and suck water out of that cloth all day if I would let her. She is learning not to try to retrieve her toys if they drift away now, for the last few baths she would dive forward as her toy would float away, leaving her face down in the water. Amazingly enough, she doesn't cry over it, just chokes on the water a little and continues to play. I think she will be a swimmer! Now when a toy floats away, she just looks up at me like "aren't you going to get that for me?"

My other favorite baby pictures are messy face pictures, these are from last night.

Our Ghost Town Adventure!

So this last weekend, Matt really wanted to get out and do something different..... He had looked at this website: www.ghosttowns.com and we found a couple of Ghost Towns to visit. It was so much fun. The first ghost town we visited was called Manning. The only thing we found was this old cement building. The rest of the road that probably led to the old mine was closed off.

The next place we stopped at was Mercur, we were disappointed to find only another gate blocking it off. It looks as if they were mining there again though, and that one is a gold mine.

The last place we went was Ophir, it was really neat. It isn't really a ghost town anymore though, there are a few people that live there, but they have preserved alot of the old buildings and you can see some of the old mining equipment. They also happened to be filming a movie there when we showed up. Someone told us that it is a kids first film that he wrote and is directing, the guy says that he just has way too much money. It sounds like the movie is about some kids that go into an old mine. So that was fun to see too.
This last picture was a picture of the some of the movie crew. That is the best picture I had of them.

Today was such a beautiful day, so we took Kaiya to one of the parks in Provo Canyon to take pictures. We figured it would be our last chance to do outdoor pictures this year. I am sorry that I am posting so many, but I just couldn't narrow them down anymore than I already did, we got so many cute ones, my favorite picture by far is the one that I put on our blog on the right permanently.... She does that so much with her lip now, I love it.

I thought that we would never sell the Audi, but it is gone! I was kind of sad, because this is the car I always drove, but I don't really use it much anymore anyway because I work at home. We sold it yesterday to a really nice couple. I admit that it will be weird to share a car, we haven't done that since we were first married, and that only lasted 2 months...

His eyes, smile, and laugh; I actually do like his stubborness (except the motorcycle thing, haha); One of the biggest thing that attracted me to him was the way he is with kids, I love the way he is with Kaiya and she just lights up everyday when he comes home from work; He is such a hard worker.... that is another thing that he is stubborn about, he simply will not stop until he is completely finished with something (as I write this, it is 11:51 at night, and he is out in the parking lot working on the Audi.... I told him to go to bed, but he just won't until he is finished); I love how much he loves his parents and how he would do anything he could for them; He is just so easy to talk to and he is so kind and generous to me. I love him so much and would do anything for him, and I am so happy that I was accepted into his wonderful family too, I love them all so much, they raised a great son and brother.

Kaiya absolutely loves to take baths, she is on a schedule right now where she takes a bath every other day, but I often let her take one every day, because she loves it so much. She can be so upset and instantly if you put her in the bath, she is as happy as can be. Although, taking her out makes her so mad, she screams and screams...

Just wanted to say Happy 25th Birthday to my sweet hubby. I tease him that he is a 1/4 of a century old. It was fun, we went and played pool and bowling tonight (that's what we did on our first date) and we ate out at Tucanos and my brother and sister-in-law babysat.

Kaiya started eating rice cereal about 2 weeks ago, I thought I would share the video of the first time she tried it. She loves the cereal and eats really well. Recently she gets to excited about it and will grab the spoon as I bring it closer to her mouth, I think in an attempt to get it faster (she does the same thing with her binki). As you can imagine it gets pretty messy....

Sick in Bed

So on Sunday night, I got the flu and have been in bed all week. Kaiya has just been hanging out in bed with me all week. She seems like she really likes it, she probably just loves having mom next to her all day until Matt gets home. I find it kind of funny though, because my bed is full of toys for her and my laptop and hand sanitizer for me (trying to keep from getting her sick). I do have to say that I hate being sick and I am just glad that I only have one child, so that hanging out in bed is a possibility.

It has been so long since I have posted anything and I have been meaning to post these pictures. Matt refinished the desk that we have, it belonged to Grandma Reynolds and was painted black and a lot of other colors under that and Matt stripped it down and refinished it, and I think it looks so good.

This is the only picture I could find of it before Matt stripped it, I wish we had taken one.

Lots of Sleep!

So last week we moved Kaiya's crib into her own room because she was consistently sleeping 6-8 hours at night. It was the best thing that I could have done, because she is now sleeping from 9-10+ hours a night! It is weird to wake up before her and actually have some time to get ready in the morning. I even have had to wake her up the last few mornings, so that we could go on our walk before it gets too hot outside. Her room has nice dark drapes, so it has really helped her to take better naps too. Now my goal is to get her too bed a little earlier so that I don't have to wake her up in the morning.

I can't believe how fast she is growing.... At the beginning of the week I started putting toys in front of her and she just kind of looked at them, but every day she is getting better at hitting them and grabbing them. (Sorry the video is so bad, I just used my camera phone.)

Kaiya's 2 Month Visit

I took Kaiya to her 2 month doctor visit on Thursday, and I thought that I would report her growth.... She is now 11 lbs 7.5 oz and that puts her in the 70th %tile and she is really tall, she is 23.5 inches, which puts her in the 89th %tile. The doctor says she is doing good and she handled her shots really well, she cried while she was being given them, but immediately stopped when I put her binki in her mouth.

Cedar Breaks

On Sunday, we all went up to Cedar Breaks, I have never been there, it was so beautiful! Chris used are camera and she took some really good pictures, it was a lot of fun. Then we went up the road a ways and found a trail that was supposed to be only a 1/2 mile to a pond, so we took that. It was pretty, but I think it may have been a little longer than we had thought. Then we drove thru Brian Head. Kaiya seemed to enjoy it, she got her first little sunburn across her nose, it was so overcast that we didn't even think about the sunscreen, I felt bad....

Camping at Yankee Meadows

Last Friday, we went camping for the first time with Kaiya. It was a lot of fun. Our tent spot was a little bumpy and slanted, so that made for an interesting night. Kaiya slept so good though, the full 8 hours, I was pleased with how well she did camping. In the morning, we went fishing, but still no luck.... Oh and we finally got the Land Rover fixed and Matt got to test it out off roading up in there, we found two other reservoirs, it was a lot of fun. Overall, it was a fun night, then we spent the weekend with mom and dad Reynolds, which was a lot of fun.

On thursday evening, we went to Lodgepole, where my family was camping and we had dinner and marshmallows with them. That was a lot of fun. On saturday, we went hiking up to the Upper falls in provo canyon, I was dissapointed that I had forgotten the camera, Kaiya did really well in her backpack with Matt and she seemed to like the hike. Then after hiking we thought we would try our luck with fishing again.... still no luck.

So on Saturday evening, we went fishing (our licences from last year haven't expired yet) we maybe almost... caught 3 fish, but I may have been mistaking the bottom and the current for fish bites. But I almost caught 1 for sure, and it got away. We realized that we are the worst at fishing because neither of us have caught a single fish since we got these licences and they expire at the end of this month. We had lots of fun anyway. Kaiya was really good too, she seemed to enjoy just hanging out in her stroller.

Great Sleeper

So I laid Kaiya down for a nap the other day, and when I walked in to check on her, this is how she was actually sleeping. I thought it was so hilarious. She is quite a funny baby to watch while she is asleep. She is always making faces and I find her arms are alway positioned funny or above her head. Last night, I was so excited... she slept almost 8 hours (despite the annoying car alarm that kept going on and off randomly out side of our apartment last night and waking me and Matt up...), it was amazing that she was able to sleep through it.

One Month Old and Rolling Over!

I can't believe that Kaiya is one month old today. Time has flown! She is growing sooo much too. On Sunday we were giving her some "tummy time" at my parent's house and she rolled over from her tummy to her back, she is getting so strong! She is also getting really good at holding her head up.

I am so excited, it has been three nights in a row now, where Kaiya has almost slept through the night. She has been going to bed between 11 and midnight and been sleeping for 5-6 hours. Then she eats and has been sleeping for about another 3-4 hours after that. I don't think that I have slept this well since December!

My Crazy Month of May.....

Kaiya's Birth: May 3rd, I had misplaced this camera for a little while, so I wasn't able to post pictures from the hospital. Her birth came at about the best time, Matt's parents were up that weekend for Eric's baby blessing, having all the grandparents there made it so special.

Kendall's Wedding: May 15th, Kendall and Alyson got Married in the Timpanogus Temple. Matt and Clinton and I decorated their car, it was a lot of fun.

Clinton's Graduation: May 23rd, I can't believe he is that old... he will be going to go to Utah State University in the fall. Congrats Clinton!

Memorial Day: Matt and I took my little brother Corey with us to Thanksgiving Point to see the Dinosaur Museum, it was a lot of fun. The museum was a lot bigger than I had expected, I would recommend it to anyone, there are also a lot of fun things for kids to do there too.

It was probably the fastest month of my life, I have been going going going, but it has been so much fun! Thanks to everyone that has helped me get through it!!

We gave Kaiya her first bath on Sunday. She really seemed to like it, she didn't cry or anything. She really didn't like the cold when we took her out though...

Well she has finnaly decided to come and meet to world this morning at 9:16. She is 21 inches long and 8 pounds 10 ounces. Her name is Kaiya Mae Reynolds.

Still no baby, just another disappointing visit...

I was really hoping something would come of all the contractions I had last night, but nothing much. I am now thinned to 90% and still dilated the same.... We went ahead and scheduled me an induction for May 8th, next Thursday, because my doctor is going to be out of town the following week and my brother is getting married that same week too. I really hope she comes before then though, because I really don't want to be induced. I just don't like the idea of it. Again, I will just have to wait and see I will keep you posted if anything comes up.

I wish that your due date was a guaranteed date that you will have you baby at least by this date. I guess that is not how it works though. I do have to say though, I was really excited, because I was awakened by contractions all night last night and the only time that I never have contractions is while I am laying down. I am still having some this morning, but I am just not convinced yet, because they just don't seem to be painful enough. I guess I will just have to keep waiting, but I do have a doctors appointment today, so I am going to cross my fingers......

Well...... again, hoping for more. Still almost 2cm (he called it 1 and 7/8 cm, I think he should just give me credit for the whole 2). I am now 80% effaced, but the doctor did say that the baby has dropped almost to -2 station and last week it was at a -4. So just about the same amount of progress as last week. I guess we'll see again...

I am so glad that I have one week to go..... I feel like this month has been an eternity. Last night, Matt and I went to Heber, to do some work for my dad, and at dinnertime, I suggested that we walk to go get food (it was a few more blocks then I had thought...haha). Anyway, it was probably quite entertaining for Matt, because for the last little while whenever I stand or walk, I am having a Braxton Hick contraction. It has quite confused me though, because it isn't really like having contractions....just one long contraction with ups and downs, no breaks. The only time they go away is when I am sitting or laying down, and even then, I am getting them. But when we were walking I got 2 extremely painful contractions (including sharp back pain, and I wasn't able to walk through it 100%). I was so excited at first thinking this has got to do something.... but unfortunately sitting down for dinner ruined everything. I don't know what to think, but Matt teases me that I am not even going to know when I am in really labor, because whenever I am up and around having contractions, I just try ignore them figuring that the are not real, because I hate getting my hopes up. I don't like even trying to time them, because that just makes me even more frustrated. Well I have a doctors appointment today at 4:00, so when I get back I will give an update about what he has to say.

This week was not as promising as last week, but I guess you never know. I am now dilated to almost 2 cm and thinned 70%. So some progress, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed that it didn't turn out like my last appointment. We will just have to wait and see...

Progress!!

I am excited, I went to my 37 week appointment today. Last week was the first week that the doctor checked to see if I had made any progress and I had dilated to just a tiny over a centimeter, but I had not thinned at all. This week he seemed surprised that I have dilated to about 1 1/2 centimeters, but more importantly thinned to almost 60%. He said that that was really good progress and wouldn't be surprised if she came early. He also said that she is right in position. I am not going to get my hopes up, but I was pleased with the progress, especially since last week he told me that she would most likely come at my date or even a week after.

I was going through some old pictures, trying to find ones to go develop for our scrapbook and I thought I would put some on here. Ya know we used to take a lot more pictures than we do now... we really need to take more.

So I am really getting impatient for this little girl to come. I have the theory that she wants to come too. At my last two appointments, my doctor hasn't failed to mention that she is measuring a little bit on the larger side (I don't know if he realizes how nervous that makes me). For the last to weeks, I feel like I can't get up and walk around without getting Braxton-Hick contractions and excruciating back pain... I figure she might as well come too, because as is, I don't get much sleep at night, I wake up every hour or two and get up to walk around to shake off the pain in my legs and hips.

Well I guess I shouldn't expect anything, cause knowing my luck she is going to be 2 weeks late or something. Besides, I need to count my blessings and remember why we go through this. She will be so worth it, and I am sure that there are others out there that have had much more challenging pregnancies.

Anyway, I thought I would add some pics from my ultrasound clear back in December. I think the picture is funny that the lady took that tells us that we are having a girl because she left the mouse pointer there when she was showing us.

Matt thought that it would be fun to give out a few hints of what we are going to name the baby...

Hint #1: It is of Japanese origin.
Hint #2: I have only heard the name 3 times ever; twice on TV, and once in a movie, but never met anyone with the name. (it is pretty unique)
Hint #3: The name is 2 syllables.

Matt would like you to comment if you have any guesses, I think it would be fun to see what people come up with!

I am new to this, Valerie was telling me that I needed to start a blog so that she would know how my pregnancy was going, and I really like looking at everyone else's blogs, so I thought I would start one. It is nice to see pics and see how other people are doing.
